Dental Implants
Dental Implants are the strongest, most permanent solution that modern dentistry offers for missing teeth. Dr. Adams is an expert at performing this procedure and he always gets excellent results. If you are considering dental implants there is no better option than Diamond Bar Surgery Center. The reason why implants are so effective is easily understood by examining the nature of how they are placed. The patient is fully sedated to make for a comfortable experience, and an implant made from medical grade titanium is screwed into the jawbone. It is placed in such a way so that the end of the implant extends just above the gum line in the place of the missing teeth. As the jawbone heals, the new bone growth grafts to the surface of the titanium in a process known as Osseointegration. In this way the implant is very much like a part of your body. When it has fully healed Dr. Adams bonds a porcelain crown over the exposed implant. The restored tooth is then completely done and ready to be used normally..

Endodontic Therapy (Root Canal)
At Diamond Bar Surgery Center we know that the root canal procedure has perhaps the most notorious reputation among patients for being painful and demanding. However, you can rest assured knowing that Dr. Adams is one of the premier dental professionals for providing pain free dentistry. This is absolutely required of him when working with developmentally disabled patients, who could easily become frightened and confused, and Dr. Adams carries over this same heightened sense of care when working with any patient. Root canals are used to treat a tooth that has become badly infected due to a decaying root. The root may die after experiencing a trauma, or it can die from a gum infection that reaches the root. Once decaying, the root and surrounding pulp will break down the structure of the tooth enamel itself. If left untreated the entire tooth will have to be extracted. To counter this, Dr. Adams will drill down through the crown of the tooth till he reaches the pulp chamber. To finish the procedure all infected tissue is extracted, the canal is filled with biocompatible material, and a porcelain crown is used to cap and seal the tooth. The patient should be pain free and able to use the tooth normally.

Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are another effective tool that Dr. Adams can use to improve both the appearance and functionality of a patient's teeth. A bridge replaces a missing tooth and, once bonded in place, provides the strength needed to endure everyday use. At your appointment to Diamond Bar Surgery Center the dentist will first take precise measurements of the gap, so the tooth will fit perfectly. Then an exact replica of your natural tooth is carved from a block of porcelain and colored to be indistinguishable from the surrounding teeth. The next step taken is to bond the replacement between two porcelain dental crowns, and the entire restoration is placed so that the crowns cover the neighboring teeth and tightly hold the replacement tooth in the gap. This provides an alternative to dental implants and requires a much shorter healing time. If you have unsightly gaps contact our talented professionals who provide the best bridgework in Diamond Bar, CA and the surrounding areas.

Porcelain Dental Crowns
Porcelain dental crowns are one of the basic tools used in restorative dentistry. A crown is a hollow porcelain tooth that covers a natural tooth. As well as being used for root canals and dental bridges, crowns are also used to provide additional strength for teeth that are badly cracked or chipped, to protect a temperature sensitive tooth, or even to close gaps between teeth. At your appointment to Diamond Bar Surgery Center, Dr. Adams will simply slip the customized crown over the distressed tooth and bond it into place. The tooth is sealed and protected, and has the strength needed for chewing and biting.

Implant Dentures
Traditional dentures are in and of themselves a miracle in restorative dentistry. They allow people who have lost all or most of their teeth to continue their normal eating habits with as close to normal functionality as possible. While dentures have been available in some form for literally centuries, it is only relatively recently that dentures have been customized to fit snugly in a patient’s mouth. However, even with a personalized fitting, dentures are not without shortcomings. Many patients have complaints about dentures unintentionally slipping out of place when eating or talking. This can be especially embarrassing when the company around you had not known you wore dentures.
To provide full functionality Diamond Bar Surgery Center offers the newest development in denture technology called implant dentures. Dr. Adams uses medical grade titanium implants (the same used for dental implants) to create a device that locks with the dentures and holds them firmly in position. Two implants are anchored into the roof of the mouth and the protruding implants are connected with a small bar. The procedure is repeated if lower dentures are present. The bar secures with a piece on the denture plate so it will never slip out of place. If you are unsatisfied with your traditional dentures, and have an interest in getting implants, contact Dr. Adams who is a leading provider of implant dentures in the Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights, Chino Hills, and Walnut, CA areas.

Tooth Extractions
An extraction describes the complete removal of a troubled tooth. Since the efforts of the staff at Diamond Bar Surgery Center are centered on saving teeth, this is usually avoided at all costs. Root canals or crowns are always the first choice, but sometimes a tooth has become so badly infected and decayed that extraction is required. So if you are experiencing pain or tooth decay you should contact Diamond Bar Surgery Center as soon as possible to prevent unnecessary loss. Extractions are also sometimes used before dental implants are placed, or in preparation for a denture fitting. Dr. Adams will sedate the patient so they feel no pain and, using a pair of dental forceps, clamp on the tooth and pull it out. Depending on the placement of the removed tooth, and if he feels that it may inhibit the functions of your mouth, Dr. Adams will recommend the use of a dental implant or dental bridge to close the gap. Another form of extraction is used when the patient has impacted wisdom teeth. These are the very back molars that usually appear during the mid to late teenage years. When they are impacted, or crooked, they risk damaging the surrounding teeth. Dr. Adams will surgically remove them while using full sedation. For the proper treatment and instructions following wisdom teeth removal please see the link on our forms page.

Periodontal (Gum) Disease
Periodontal disease, more commonly known as gum disease, is a bacterial infection affecting the gums. These are brought on by plaque buildup on the teeth, as well as food particles left by improper brushing. While they may start as relatively minor irritations, these infections can quickly become more serious as they deteriorate the gums and other supporting tissues. For this reason it is vitally important to prevent these infections from forming, and the best way is by scheduling six months cleanings at Diamond Bar Surgery Center. When the infections are too deep to be treated with regular brushing periodontal surgery, in which the gums are opened up and the infection removed, will be required. To avoid this intensive procedure a new technology using laser therapy is also available at our Diamond Bar, CA office. During this procedure Dr. Adams will use a special laser to penetrate the gums and kill the infection. This has a dramatically reduced healing period since there is no physical cutting into the gums, and is therefore very beneficial to the patient.
