American doctors are not just known for their good treatment of their patients. Many of them are also well known for discovering such diseases as diabetes. In fact many American doctors have even managed to get a Nobel Prize for their selfless works.
Let's just take a look at some of those doctors:
Charles Horace mayo is the first in our list. He was the main founder of the world famous Mayo clinic which has we all know is a non- profit medical organization that is known the world over.
This famous clinic has its headquarters based in Rochester which can be found in Minnesota.
Charles eldest child also went on to become a founder member of this clinic too. After finishing his own medical studies in the 1880's he started working for his father at his clinic before it later transformed into the Mayo clinic. His name was William James Mayo.
Next there is the man regarded as the modern medicines father, one William Osler Abbott. Abbott's claim to fame was the invention of the Miler-Abbot tube.
You will have probably heard of the next doctor that I am about to mention as he was a famous pediatrician that also wrote books. Benjamin Spock was his name and inn1946 he wrote a book entitled "Baby and child care". He did a lot of studying on child care and termed it psychoanalysis.
This next American was actually the son of a Jewish- Russian immigrant and his name was Jonas Salk. Salk is famous for discovering the Polio vaccine and did various studies on diseases.
Finally there was the founder of the Joslin diabetes center which is one of the largest in the world. His name was Elliot. P. Joslin. Joslin was the instigator of the self help diabetes management system because he was the one that helped his patients by letting them know his findings and working together with them instigated the diabetes treatment as we know it today.
