At Diamond Bar Surgery Center we know that the root canal procedure has
perhaps the most notorious reputation among patients for being painful
and demanding. However, you can rest assured knowing that Dr. Adams is
one of the premier dental professionals for providing pain free
dentistry. This is absolutely required of him when working with
developmentally disabled patients, who could easily become frightened
and confused, and Dr. Adams carries over this same heightened sense of
care when working with any patient. Root canals are used to treat a
tooth that has become badly infected due to a decaying root. The root
may die after experiencing a trauma, or it can die from a gum infection
that reaches the root. Once decaying, the root and surrounding pulp
will break down the structure of the tooth enamel itself. If left
untreated the entire tooth will have to be extracted. To counter this,
Dr. Adams will drill down through the crown of the tooth till he reaches
the pulp chamber. To finish the procedure all infected tissue is
extracted, the canal is filled with biocompatible material, and a
porcelain crown is used to cap and seal the tooth. The patient should
be pain free and able to use the tooth normally.
